Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu Peru Amazing Pictures

Machu Picchu is a pre-Columbian 15th-century Inca site located 2,430 metres above sea level. Machu Picchu is located in the Cusco Region of Peru, South America. It is situated on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru, which is 80 kilometres northwest of Cusco and through which the Urubamba River flows. Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). Often referred to as the “City of the Incas”, it is perhaps the most familiar icon of Inca civilization.

  2. It’s wonderful place, especially for one who likes ancient culture.
Your photos are stunning, and special in one point: there is no people. Very good works!
I missed my trip to last month to this area because of visa problem… but I’m trying to get there next time.

  3. Great shots. I’ve just started going through a few of your recent posts. Looks like you’ve been everywhere. If the rest are as good as this, you’ve got a new viewer/reader.

  4. I’ve always wanted to visit Machu Picchu; I had no idea it was so large or so well preserved. Thank you for the virtual visit through your lovely pictures. I especially like the 4th from the bottom, with the clouds in the mountains – really adds to the mood of the place. (And thank you for stopping by my blog today, too.)
